Each of these schemes is actively used in Ukraine. Despite the obviousness of some schemes, hundreds of people fall victim to them every day.
1. SMS-winning. A mobile phone user receives an SMS containing information about a prize. A person who is familiar with such a scheme will send an SMS or call back to the specified number, and as a result, money will be debited from the account in favor of fraudsters.
2. "Return our money". In this case, you will receive an SMS saying that your account has been credited with a certain amount. The message is followed by a call, where you are told that your account was deposited by accident, by mistake. Of course, you will be asked to return the money.
3. Arrest and detention of a relative by the police. An old but effective scheme when scammers pose as police officers and offer to "bail" your relative out of jail for a certain amount of money. The fraudster's task is to intimidate the person as much as possible, not allowing them to soberly assess the situation.
4. A call from "bank employees". In this case, you receive a call and are introduced as an employee of the bank where you have an account. You will be asked for your card number and a three-digit code to allegedly unlock it.
5. "We're calling about an advertisement". This scam targets those who have posted an ad about a missing pet, keys, or cell phone. The scammer will ask you for money to return an item that they do not have.
6. Credit card scam. A subscriber receives an SMS message or a call with an offer to get a bank card with a significant credit limit and a small interest rate. The person agrees, but it turns out that the card is issued for a fee. Nevertheless, many people transfer money because very often you have to pay for issuing a card, for example, in some banks, sports clubs, etc.
7. Imaginary virus attack. You receive a message stating that your device is infected with a virus and that you need to pay a fee to get it fixed.
8. Nigerian scheme. You receive a letter from a banker informing you that your namesake has died, but he has a lot of money left that can be divided between you and the banker. But, before the banker transfers the money to you, it turns out that you need to deposit a certain amount of money in the bank.
9. Fraudsters imitate working on the Forex market. The scheme is designed for those who want to make money on the Internet. The victim is persuaded to participate in making money on Forex. The victim thinks that he or she is transferring money to his or her Forex account, but in fact, he or she is transferring money to a simulation of stock exchange trading.
10. Sim card substitution. In a mobile phone store, the scammers restore the SIM card, which is used to access the victim's mail, online banking, social networks, and messengers.
